S1- Character Intro: Interview for the Starkweather-Moore Expedition. “Word of advice:
Starkweather may ask the questions but its Moore you need to impress.”
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/09/s2-stop-presses-we-got-storyjuicy.html
S2- Stop the
Presses; We got a Story…Juicy!: Spy reporter watches Pier
74B and the SS Gabrielle. Three other expeditions are planned
around the same timeframe. Potential sabotage. Now a 4th expedition…
headed by a woman who obviously rattles Starkweather’s demeanor! “Advance the schedule; we leave on the 9th.
And get me a woman!”
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/10/s3-i-dont-believe-in-coincidences.html
S3- I Don’t
Believe in Coincidences: background
info about Starkweather’s and Acacia Lexington’s tiff. And the murder of our
captain Douglas! Now threatening notes trying to get us not to sail.
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/10/s4-i-drink-and-i-know-things.html
S4- I Drink and I Know Things: Sabotage at the docks! As the SS Tallahassee pulls away from its own blazing dock. At least Dr. Oskar Orendorf captured the saboteur! News about a manuscript meant for Moore stolen by Germans!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/10/s5-ship-on-line-stand-ready-for-boarding.html
S5- “Ship on
the Line. Stand Ready for Boarding.” Last minute inspections and inventory. What else could go wrong?! Days
behind Acacia’s Tallahassee as we sail towards the Panama canals. Then
onward into the Pacific Ocean where the crew holds ceremony for crossing the equator.
King Neptune aboard! Laughter turned sour by a sabotaged refrigerator and loss
of food supplies!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/10/s6-damn-starkers.html
S6- “Damn
Starkers”: left with eating the
pemmican meant for arctic survival. Tracking the on-board saboteur. Poisoning
of sled dogs and a bomb found aboard!! Resupply in Melbourne.
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/10/s7-cowboys-and-enguns.html
S7- “Cowboys
and Enguns”: Ordered
resupplies not ready or incorrect order delays departure. Finally weigh anchor
and set sail into the teeth of the southern winds and rising seas. More
sabotage as heavy equipment breaks loose in the storm tossed seas. Chance upon
a relic stuck in the ice: the old whaler Wallaroo now an abandoned
derelict. Frightful scene aboard its decks!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/11/s8-mayday-mayday.html
S8- “Mayday,
mayday!”: 28-days since leaving
Melbourne and they FINALLY saw their destination. Mt. Erebus low on the horizon
to the west which meant Ross Island dead ahead. More days to actually lay
anchor and unload. Cursed as fissures open and threaten to swallow the stacked
gear! But we are not the only to suffer as the radio crackles, “Mayday, mayday.
This is the Tallahassee reporting. Lexington camp under attack.”
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/11/s9-this-must-be-it-one-of-lakes-find.html
S9- “This
must be it! One of Lake’s find.” Aiding the Lexington camp leads to a unified effort as exemplified with
a joined (Nov 24th) Thanksgiving feast. Then onward flight to the
last known report of Lake’s camp. Once found, they began exploration of the
site to determine what happened over a year ago. Tents uncovered revealed
unexpected discoveries. Another party discovers the reported bore cave. What’s
with these vertical shafts topped with 5-pointed stone? Horror awaits!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/12/s10-uncovering-cots-and-plots.html
S10- Uncovering
the Cots and Plots: Horrific
discoveries as they unearth Lake’s camp and perform their own autopsy on one of
the unearthed lifeforms. All while battling nature and the ever-present threat
of frostbite and hyperthermia and the ever distasteful pemmican. More of Lake’s
tents unearthed from their snow and ice cairn. The sight of blood most
concerning: work of a madman?
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/12/s11-call-for-help.html
S11- A Call
for Help? Dr. Cope examines the
barrel-bodied creature and offers his plate tectonics theory of why such
diverse fossils found inside the fabled cave of Lake’s lore. But also
more discoveries and theories as to what happened to Lake’s team! Troublesome
sleep, disturbed by the arrival of planes from the Barsm Falken
Expedition, “Acacia called for our help.”
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/12/s12-crazy-american.html
S12- Crazy
American: Confronting the
Germans and taking notes with an air of distrust of both them and Acacia’s team.
Surprise? Not really, that the German’s seem to know more than we. And came
better equipped with chainsaws and an electric ‘ice-knife’. Which
quickly revealed another burial cairn… of almost 3-dozen sled dogs! Stacked
like cordwood but evidence they were violently slain, butchered, flayed and
skinned down to bone and tendons. Just like when the German leader, Dr. Meyer,
called us to witness the grotesque scene inside Lake’s frozen airplane hanger!
The Germans acting as if they already knew, which boiled Sampson’s frayed
nerves as he confronted them!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2020/12/s12a-dyer-manuscript.html
S12a- The Dyer Manuscript: A revealing discovery of what Professor Dyer secretly recorded
about their failed 1931 expedition!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2021/01/s13-my-god-this-is-greatest-discovery.html
S13- “My
God, this is the greatest discovery ever!” Dyer’s transcripts: Horror
yet curious and compelling to the scientific eye. A planned flight to the
reported city on the other side of the mountain range. Two planes: Acacia and
the Germans versus Starkweather/Moore’s team. What could go wrong? It’s a joint
effort, right? Such as poisoned oxygen bottles needed for the high altitude
destination? But once airborne and in sight, it WAS breathtaking! Dyer’s notes
didn’t do it justice.
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2021/01/s14-like-coon-dog-sniffing-everything.html
S14- Like
a Coon-dog sniffing everything: They land on the 20,000ft plateau with no sight of Acacia’s plane. Starkweather
voices concern for her yet settles for his own efforts to be the first in
discoveries. They struck off in different directions to explore the strange
city of the elder gods. One team to explore underground of a collapsed central tower,
on edge per Dyer’s mention of ‘shoggoth’ things. Frightful discoveries to
include Gedney’s tomb. Starkweather returned with a backpack full of his own
discoveries. They searched the city and its strange labyrinth layout. Puzzled
at the murals depicting the history of the elder gods and their language of
dots. They slowly worked their way thru the city before they stood near the
base of towering colossal headless sentinels that straddled a now frozen river.
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2021/01/s15-rescue-party.html
S15- Rescue
Party: Plans to recover
Gedney’s body led them back inside the tower. Thoughts of Dyer’s words about 6ft
tall penguins, ‘Tekeli-li’, and Shoggoth unsettled their nerves yet onward they
trekked. More exploration to discover recent etchings that documented Dyer and
Danforth’s escape! Elders still live?! Then they heard for themselves ‘Tekeli-li’
that prompted their retreat. Only to climb topside and hear a gunshot near
their camp. And see a fellow member collapse dead as an unknown figure jumped
from the Enderby just before it burst into flames! Discovery of the true
saboteur! And the appearance of an elder god that grabbed Starkweather and flew
off!
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2021/03/s16-to-tower-and-its-hypnotic-eye.html
S16- To the
Tower and its Hypnotic Eye: With
members of Acacia’s flight joined, they fly after the elder carrying
Starkweather beyond the edge of the city to a distant tower with a ray-like
beacon that sweeps the sky. After landing, they trek to the tower and begin to
climb. Inside, the air breathable and warm as if it was a temperate southern
climate. With parkas discarded, they climbed higher and higher where the walls were
covered in more murals that document the passage of elder time through the
eons. While they rose, their sanity collapsed. Voices in his head? Wilbur
raised his rifle and shot his perceived threat.
https://rigglebmm.blogspot.com/2021/04/s17-conclusion-for-good-of-humanity.html
S17- For the
Good of Humanity! They find Starkweather…
and wish they hadn’t! No wonder Dyer was so determined to keep humanity from
the elder doorsteps.
